The Band...

The Band of Now is more an idea than a group. Our focus is on sharing our gifts, Kirtan & Raja Yoga, with all who would receive them. And to recognize fully our equal-ness in our togetherness, and the power of co-creating when our focus is in the heart!

Separate as One was the point so we could experience

Prem Vidu
- Band leader, Composer, Director
- Vocals & Guitar

Blessed to be raised by musical parents, growing up on the sweet sounds of barbershop and dominant 7 chords, Vidu was always interested in the intention behind the music. After gaining his BFA in Percussion Performance & Jazz Studies, life eventually led him to explore music as a devotional tool, eventually sharing his devotion through song and prayer. He combines 10 years of leading medicine ceremonies, 9 years of chanting, and a lifetime of musical experience, which is channeled all into facilitating Kirtan. He invites all to share their voices together in devotion, and to co-create a sacred space for healing, peace and joy to be cultivated!

Depending on schedules the band will be supported, and facilitated, by
one or all of these huge Bhakti hearts and talents! We are blessed!
Listed alphabetically by first name...
Angela Fears (Dharma)
Early memories are of playing on the drum set at her mother's jazz band rehearsals. While, growing up with singers, vocalist and storytellers, Dharma used yoga and the healing power of kirtan to discover her voice in 2009. Dharma's love of the wisdom traditions has led her to sacred stories, mantras and songs in ceremony and healing circles. Dharma is grateful for the the teachings and offerings from the elders, yoga teachers and guides.  In 2015 while sharing Kriya yoga practices, she was blessed to met her tabla guru, Shreyas Iyer.  Dharma studies music of India with Phoenix Tabla, and has studied tabla with Marcus Wise and Ty Burhoe.  Performing with the Band of Now on vocals and percussion allows Dharma to embrace the Bhakti practice fully and completely.
Cassandra Bright (Ma Nischala Kalyani)
- Vocals & Harmonium

Cassandra began her yoga journey in 1998. Overwhelmed with life at the time...synchronistically, yoga arrived. Her first yoga experience (an Ashtanga Vinyasa class) kicked her butt, yet she wept with gratitude -- she’d found her way Home.  Yoga instantly meant more than movement or exercise; it meant reconnecting with Self, with that part that was quietly awaiting her return. Drawing her deeper into yoga, and to yoga teaching training, she completed her first 200-hr YTT in Scottsdale in 1999, then journeyed to mother India in 2007 to experience Nithya Yoga, where she became Ordained as a Yogacharya and Ananda Spiritual Healer. Her study of Self and Yoga continue, having become a Pranic Healer, a Yoga Nidra Facilitator and completing an  advanced 300-hr training in Yoga & Ayurveda. The opening of her center, Gilbert Yoga in 2003, has allowed her and many others to share the gifts of yoga with thousands, and to initiate others into teaching as well. Her asana based yoga style from 20 years ago is now infused deeply with the sweetness of Bhakti yoga and meditation…allowing for her heartfelt, soul-stirring yoga-medicine to flow.

Dr. Carlos Santo (aka.  Hanuman G!)

Carlos Santo began his bhakti yoga journey with The Band of Now in early 2016. His bass lines and vocals stem from influences of jazz standards, classic rock, ska, punk rock, funk, and more. When he's not practicing bass he's paying bills with his day job as a naturopathic physician in Scottsdale, AZ.

She is the founder of One Sacred Pearl providing lovingly crafted ritual tools for your holistic healing.

Monica Page Subia (Sat Parusha)

Monica has been chanting the Divine names in various forms, throughout her life. In 2003 her love of yoga took her to Svaha Yoga Shala in Amsterdam, Netherlands, where she complete her 500–hour Yoga Teacher Certification and was introduced to Kirtan and Bhajans in both Sanskrit and Hindi. She immediately fell into ecstatic Love with these forms of chant and has been chanting nonstop ever since. She has also completed a two-year Yoga Therapy training at Loyola Marymount University, in Los Angeles, of the Krishnamacharya/Desikachar lineage. She has performed at Bhakti Fest and Shakti Fest “the Woodstock of Yoga”, with many wonderful artists such as Sirgun Kaur, Masood Ali Khan and Girish, to name a few. Chanting and yoga have miraculously transformed her life and she is very grateful to be teaching and sharing this miracle with others! Monica leads Teacher Trainings as well as studio classes, workshops and retreats. Her studio classes, called "Bhakti Flow", are a joyful, celebratory experience of bringing Bhakti to the mat.
